I do not like to waste food. This is usually not a problem with me because I will just consume more so that stuff doesn't go to waste. However, now that I buy most of my veggies fresh from the Farmer's market, I've noticed that my veggies start decomposing faster than the grocery store ones. To solve this problem, I've discovered a few things you can do to keep your veggies fresh longer.
All vegetables: DO NOT wash them until ready to eat
Cucumbers:
Wrap each cucumber in paper towels and place in fridge
Carrots:
Soak them in water in the fridge. I like to peel mine first and chop them up into sticks to have as quick snacks.
Celery:
Place stems in a cup of water and leave on counter or soak them in water in the fridge like the carrots.
Cilantro, Lemon Balm, Rosemary, Mint, Basil, Oregano:
Place stems in a vase filled with water and leave on counter. Makes a lovely herb arrangement.
